John Prokopenko

John Prokopenko joined Edgewater in 2005 after holding senior technical leadership roles at IBM, Rational Software, ObjecTime and Bell Northern Research. He has delivered numerous commercially successful products in areas ranging from software development tooling, highly reliable distributed systems, real-time systems, SONET, wireless infrastructure, IP networking and avionics communications.

Mr Prokopenko has held both management and non-management roles including software developer, system architect and product definition prime. Before joining Edgewater he was development lead for IBM Rational Software Architect, Rational's first major product delivery post-acquisition.

Prior to IBM's acquisition of Rational he was Director of Rational Suites where his team developed the platform that enabled Rational tools to run on both Eclipse and Microsoft VS.Net environments. Leading up to Rational's acquisition of ObjecTime he was development director for a number of products critical to the success of a small startup. During his tenure at Bell Northern Research (BNR was the predecessor to Nortel) Mr Prokopenko lead multi-site teams working on SONET, GSM, and telecommunication applications including 1-800 service. While at BNR he received BNR's highest award for leadership. Mr Prokopenko holds an Honors degree in Computer Science from Concordia University and received the Computer Science medal as top student in his graduating class.
