Ottawa, December 2009 - Edgewater Computer Systems, Inc (ECSI), has been awarded a contract with the Canadian Department of National Defence (DND) for the implementation of its Xi‐Channel™ technology into a solution consumable by DND and other military services worldwide. The FAST1553 program will leverage ECSI’s Xi‐Channel™ technology implementation into its Extended 1553 (E1553®) product by reducing the form factor of the solution into a PCI Mezzanine Card (PMC). A PMC solution will enable the broad application of high‐speed 1553 solutions across a wide variety of avionics and electronic systems. The FAST1553PMC will provide up to 100 times more capacity on the existing, and often saturated, 1553 data bus prevalent within the majority of war fighting air craft such as the CF18 Hornet.

Xi‐channel™ provides advanced data networking solutions across a variety of media in commercial, industrial, military and aerospace systems and subsystems. Extended 1553 (E1553) is an implementation of Xi‐Channel™ technology that has been designed for the rapid and affordable integration of advanced war fighting capabilities on the prevalent Mil‐Standard 1553 data bus. E1553 has been designed to reuse the existing infrastructure of the platform without the need to modify any of the infrastructure or existing software systems residing on the platform.
