High-Performance, Wideband, Integrated Mixed Signal Analog Baseband is Released

Edgewater Releases High-Performance, Wideband, Integrated Mixed Signal Analog Baseband

Ottawa, ON, CANADA – December 30, 2004 – Edgewater Computer Systems, Inc, an Ottawa-based company that specializes in the architecture design and engineering of real-time high-performance multiprocessor systems, today announced the release of version 1.2 of the EN-3101, a high performance, low-power, fully monolithic device integrating an ultra-fast sampling 13-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC) and two high-performance 12-bit digital-to-analog converters (DACs).

The EN-3101 is ideally suited for high-speed front-end data conversion and is optimized for broadband applications in wire-line and wireless communications systems, direct-digital synthesis, medical equipment, and test & measurement instrumentation.

The EN-3101 operates from a 3.3V supply and is manufactured in a state of the art CMOS process. It is ideally suited for multi-channel systems. Additionally, the EN-3101 has excellent noise and Spurious Free Dynamic Range that makes it ideal for multi-carrier systems.

The ADC is a 13-bit sampling type analog to digital converter with on-chip track and hold that delivers 10 effective number of bits (ENOB) over the full-scale bandwidth. The ADC is optimized for low power and ease of use. It operates at up to 180MSPS for input frequencies beyond 100MHz at a power supply range of 2.7V to 3.45V.

The EN-3101 offers dual 12-bit digital to analog converters (DACs) designed for high performance and relatively low power. It is ideally suited for IQ architectures - the two channels allow for added flexibility in designing systems where multiple, high-performance DACs are required. The DACs offer a typical ENOB of 10.4-bits at 15MHz input and 180MSPS.
