Job Description:

Position Summary:

  • A member of the engineering design team focused on the development of state-of-the-art analog/mixed-signal communication based Integrated Circuits (ICs), involved in all phases of the development from concept to production. The individual in this role is responsible for contributing to the development of a comprehensive set of analog IC requirements from system requirements, participating in the IC architecture design, developing detailed design specifications and for successfully targeting these specifications to a production ready silicon design.

 

Principal Duties:

  • Produce IC level Requirements and Design Specifications to be used by multi-discipline engineering teams;

  • Provide a technical leadership role in analog/mixed signal IC architecture design, system modeling, developing circuit concept and risk analysis;

  • Analog/mixed signal circuit design from schematic capture through to layout verification;

  • Participate in all activities associated with the laboratory testing of the analog/mixed signal ICs;

  • Contribute to the development of analog/mixed signal IC production test capabilities, device characterization and device qualification engineering activities;

  • Interface with systems, hardware, digital ASIC and software Engineers as appropriate;

  • Documentation in support of the IC development activities.

 

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Electrical Eng., Computer Eng., or Systems Eng.

     

Experience:

  • 10+ years highly relevant experience with analog/mixed signal IC development including oscillators, frequency synthesizers, RF blocks, AGC's, integrated filters, Data Converters, opamps, comparators and support circuits (i.e. bandgap references, current mirrors, etc);

  • Established track record of delivering first pass success IC designs;

  • Demonstrated ability to assume leadership of analog/mixed signal IC development;

  • Experience with industry standard design tools (Cadence, Mentor Graphics, Matlab etc.);

  • Experience with Bipolar, BiCMOS and CMOS process technologies;

  • Some familiarity with broadband communication technologies such as xDSL, OFDM and xDMA.

     

Skills Required:

  • Custom analog/mixed-signal IC design;

  • Ability to lead IC design initiatives and work easily with others;

  • Strong written and spoken communication skills.

     

Desired:

  • Military/Space process and application experience a definite asset.

     

Personal Relation Skills:

  • Able to collaborate productively with systems/hardware/digital ASIC/DSP/software design team members;

  • Able to interact positively and professionally with employees at all levels in the organization.

     

Miscellaneous:

  • Must be able to complete successfully a security clearance background check to the level of Secret (may require 10 years Canadian residency);

  • Ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision, prioritizing work activities appropriately;

  • Good organizational skills.

  • None

  • Computer workstations and servers running Windows/Linux OS

  • May be required to work evenings and/or weekends from time-to-time when required to meet deadlines.
