Edgewater's wireless communications technology is unrivalled. The company's multi-channel 802.11bg and multi-channel 802.11a wireless networking solutions are uniquely designed for high-performance, high-security applications. With built-in security-support capabilities for spectral surveillance, intrusion detection, prevention, identification and locationing, along with 802.11i-compliant encryption, this cutting-edge technology offers increased capacity, flexibility and security for 802.11-based WLANs.
Key strengths of Edgewater's wireless products include:
Throughput
Edgewater's multi-channel technology enables data throughput rates that are typically 15 to 20 times that of any other commercially available single-channel 802.11-based Access Points (APs) when used in typical networking configurations with multiple clients associated at varying rates. Edgewater's three-channel radios achieve an aggregate peak association rate of 162 Mbps and, with multiple radios per access point, can support upwards of 12 channels at full-rate or nearly 650 Mbps. Edgewater plans to extend its three and four-channel offerings to support six and nine-channel APs, which will provide customers with unprecedented throughput, flexibility and security capabilities.
Cost of Deployment
Edgewater's multi-channel wireless solutions provide significant cost advantages over multiple single-channel alternatives. Deployment costs are dominated by the costs of cabling, or wiring. Deploying an Edgewater three-channel AP is typically 60% less costly than deploying three commercial single-channel access points. Edgewater's three-channel APs also maximize the capacity of a single switch port, avoiding the need to support each single channel AP with a dedicated, under-utilized, switch port. And saving yet further cost, Edgewater's built-in security features eliminate the need for an additional, costly, security scanning overlay network.
Security
Edgewater's wireless solutions offer the distinct advantage of always-on security scanning. The company's multi-channel technology supports simultaneous scanning and communications functions, unlike existing technologies, which either require systems to cease communicating while scanning takes place or require a costly overlay scanning network. In addition, Edgewater's modular approach allows any combination of channels to be used for security scanning, providing maximum flexibility and assurance of network integrity.
